Today I did 4 hours of intense gym workout (Weight training and Cardio). The idea is to see if I can do it. Was it easy? of course not, if it is I wouldn’t be writing this FB post. I like to challenge myself and stretch the limits. We humans are a powerful species and that is how we have been surviving on this planet for millions of years.
The main reason for me to write this is to encourage people who are debating if 30 mins or one hour of workout is good enough. With that mindset you are probably only burning one tea spoon of sugar that you put in your tea/coffee. It is not the time but how intense was your workout that is more important. How to measure that intensity? One way is to see of how challenging it is to walk back to the car in the parking lot after your workout. You may be tired and sore, but body will adapt, evolve and appreciate it. I see people in the gym without any workout plan and will be on a treadmill talking to someone or chatting with someone. That will not get you anywhere near your goals.
I used to have 20% body fat and now I am at 13%. Goal is to be at 9%. Will reach their shortly. Will write another post when I reach the 9% mark and explain of why keeping smaller waistline is the key for optimal health.
During my Yoga teacher training I did 7 hours of intense Yoga in one day. I just attended all classes on that day from morning to night. When I was driving back home I could feel the blood circulating throughout the body. The quality of sleep I had for few days and the freshness in the morning is out of this world. As I said above, we are more powerful than we think, and we need to get out of that lazy layer to start noticing of what we are capable off.
This post is also for people who are debating of what diet to follow to lose weight. We have unnecessarily complicated everything and lost our fundamentals and always looking for shortcuts. I eat well and try to balance with lots of exercise and in the mix add yoga and meditation. I don’t believe in shortcuts and diets. I hear people saying I lost 10kgs in 10 days or eating only salads to lose weight, my question is Why? and do they know where the weight is coming off from.
Once you realize how powerful you are, problems like obesity and other lifestyle diseases will become smaller issues.
I am not elite athlete or super human but the one who understood the fundamentals well and keeps challenging himself. When I can do it, anyone can.
